How to take Dulcolax®

As with any medication, it is very important to carefully read the information on the pack and in the leaflet. Please ask your doctor, pharmacist or health professional if you are uncertain about how to take any Dulcolax® product.

When taking Dulcolax® Tablets, it is important to avoid drinking milk or an antacid product when swallowing the tablet. This is because these fluids are alkaline (non-acidic), and can dissolve the Dulcolax® Comfort Coating too early. Water, juice or soft-drinks are better for taking Dulcolax® Tablets.

Dulcolax® Drops or Dulcolax® Pearls are activated by the effect of the colon's normal bacteria. Antibiotics reduce the amount of this normal bacteria. So if you are taking antibiotics, please choose Dulcolax® Tablets or Dulcolax® Suppositories instead of Dulcolax® Drops or Dulcolax® Pearls. This will ensure that you benefit fully from the gentle Dulcolax® laxative effect.
